New brew promises to be a scream

A brand new ale is being launched to celebrate a quarter of a century of Nottingham’s original ghost walk. “Screaming Isabella” is named after one of the legendary tales often told during the weekly guided walks which begin most Saturday nights from Ye Olde Trip To Jersusalem.

Nottingham Ghost Walk owner Simon Unsworth says : ““We decided to have a ‘Name the Ale’ competition through our Facebook page and it was great success. We reached over 5000 people and received hundreds of entries. I never dreamt how hard it would be to judge and it really came down to a close vote in the end.”

The Ghost Walk itself is one of our recommended ways of exploring the city’s caves with the NottsNight Underground Trail.

As for the beer itself? Screaming Isabella is described as “tawny in colour, malty on the palate and hoppy on the finish, with a moreish mouth-feel at 4.1% abv”. It’s been made by the folk at the Nottingham Brewery and will be on sale at the Trip from Saturday 21st July.
