Welcome to the City and Mansfield Road

Nottingham’s Old Market Square, with its impressive Council House, looks stunning on a summer’s evening. But the dead centre of the city isn’t necessarily the place to find the best pubs, at least in our opinion.

There are no shortage of venues; yet the wise drinker will choose carefully – working through hostelries with a real sense of history and character (you’ll certainly meet a few characters along the way as well). Venture trough historic Hurt’s Yard and onwards to the theatre to find a mix of traditional and new.

Then head north and discover Mansfield Road. Sadly some of the great pubs of the past are no more, but you’ll still find places that are well worth a walk up the hill. Or just get a bus if you’re feeling lazy.
