Address : 14 Mansfield Road, Nottingham, NG1 3GX.
Not to be confused with the Six Barrel in Hockley, the Pub People company have created a near-identical version of its popular drinking hole right next to the Victoria Centre. And it’s a vast improvement of the terrible, sticky-floored Irish bar that was here before it.
On the bar you’ll find six rotating real ales and – just like its Hockley cousin, a huge selection of craft beer on draft and in cans and bottles. There’s also a bigger menu here thanks to the larger kitchen on site.
The refurbishment has also seen an innovative use of the roof space which has now been turned into an outdoor terrace, though you’ll usually be choked by either the smokers or the busy traffic passing below.
Music? No live gigs are advertised at the moment, but the sound system churns out a good enough playlist.
Food? Building on the sister pub’s limited choice of poutine, you’ll find a range of burgers, dogs and light bites – plus options for breakfast.
People? A huge mix of ages and types in here thanks to its location bang in the middle of town.
Opinion? Some other nearby watering holes have gone downhill lately, so it’s great to have a reliable boozer in this location. And it deserves to do well – maybe sparking a whole little network of bars with the Six Barrel brand
