Address : 351 Mansfield Road, Nottingham, NG5 2DA.
It was Nottingham’s first ever micropub. Set in a former pharmacy, “prescriptions” were dispensed from a hatch in the cosy living-room sized bar. But that was then, and today the Doctor’s Orders – under the management of the Magpie Brewery – has expanded in size, making excellent use of the space towards the back of the building.
A large selection of real ales and craft beers is always on rotation. If you visit the gents you’ll be sitting in a floor to ceiling gallery of what’s gone before – both through the pumps and, inevitably, down the pan.
Maybe best of all, it’s table service – even if you don’t have a table – meaning no silly queues around the tiny bar.
Music? No. This is a place for good conversation.
Food? Crisps, nuts and snack pies – including vegan pork pies. (Nope, us neither)
People? A real mix of ages here – all in search of lovely ale.
Opinion? Depending on where you live, the Doc might seem a bit out of the way for some, but it’s well worth the journey. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about the product. Beware, though, of relatively early closing hours due to licensing restrictions

Cracking little watering hole especially if you get a outside seat in the sun for people watching. I’ve nipped in now and again since it opened and it’s always had a good selection of ales to choose from.
