Address : 14-16 Carlton Street, Nottingham, NG1 1NN.

Amidst the array of cocktail salons – where drinks are dispensed from unicorn horns – and the general chavalanche of chains around this part of Hockley, comes the rather nice Six Barrel Drafthouse. One of two pubs with the same name in the city – run by the same company – this completes (or starts) a handy circuit of decent bars in this part of town.
As the name suggests, there are six hand pumps at the bar, mixing a range of real ales and craft beers from light to dark, session to heavy. The stock is frequently rotated meaning there should be something slightly different to try on every visit. There’s also a huge bottle menu if you’ve brought your mortgage papers with you.
On Saturday night a DJ will take you back to the 60s, 70s and 80s – a disco that can get rather busy at times.

Music/events? As mentioned, a DJ regularly plays at the weekend. There used to be a quiz here but these days the management is focussing on the main thing – beer.
Food? Bar snacks are on offer – if you want anything more substantial there’s no shortage of eating options in the area offering choices from around the globe.
People? Hockley is Nottingham’s party central on a Saturday, so the customers come in all shapes, sizes and ages.
Opinion? When this place first opened, craft beer was just finding its feet and there was a slight hipster vibe. Now, more and more people have discovered what is essentially a really good city centre boozer. At times it’s really loud and you may struggle to find a seat – our advice is to patiently wait – it won’t be too long before a space becomes available.
Getting here? NCT City Loop Green and Turquoise lines to George Street. NET Trams to Lace Market (5 minute walk)
