“It’s not a castle!” is the cry of most tourists – and many a local – when they see the Duchal Palace towering above the city centre. And until 2021, it’s closed for a £30 million renovation project.
That said, you can still pose for photos by the Robin Hood Statue – and there are plenty of fine watering holes here too – many with outdoor areas making it the perfect place for people watching.
At weekends and on holidays, you may even see Robin Hood, or less famous costumed figures, guiding tours around the area. Sign up for one and you might even end up in one of Nottingham’s famous sandstone caves.
