About the Castle area

Castle2019Promo

“It’s not a castle!” is the cry of most tourists – and many a local – when they see the Duchal Palace towering above the city centre. But now – in 2021 – it’s reopening after a £30 million renovation project, featuring the true stories of Nottingham’s rebellious history and a host of new attractions designed to pull in the visitors.

Nearby you can pose for a picture by the Robin Hood statue, and sample fine watering holes with loads of outdoor seating, making this an ideal place for people watching. Most of the pubs around here also offer excellent food service, with a couple of menus more closely resembling a fine dining experience,

At weekends and on holidays, you may even see Robin Hood, or less famous costumed figures, guiding tours around the area. Sign up for one and you might even end up in one of Nottingham’s famous sandstone caves.
