The River and South area comprises two main neighbourhoods; the first centred around Trent Bridge and West Bridgford, and the second in the village of Ruddington.
Trent Bridge is the home of sport – with the world famous cricket ground and Nottingham Forest and Notts County on either side of the river. If there’s a match on, the pubs around here can get uncomfortably busy. But there’s a good selection of traditional bars and newcomers to quench the thirst.
A couple of miles to the south – and well served by frequent buses – the village of Ruddington has a welcoming feel, with a large choice of pubs. Only a handful have made the NottsNight grade so far, but you can easily make a day or night of it if you wish.
In early June, the entire village hosts the weekend RuddFest, which also includes a substantial beer festival on The Green – and in local hostelries.
